Costco #1295

Woodstock Costco #1295

I was recently hired by the local Costco in Woodstock to take a series of photos for a new “Culture Board” they’re putting together. The idea behind the board is to visually highlight what makes their location stand out, and they wanted clean, professional images of the warehouse to go with it.

For this project, the focus was mainly on the building itself. I took a range of exterior and interior shots—capturing different angles of the main entrance, wide views of the warehouse floor, and a few close-up details that show the structure and layout of the space. The goal was to keep the images simple, sharp, and true to what customers and employees see every day.

After a few hours of shooting and some time spent editing, I delivered a final set of 9 photos that will be used on their display board inside the warehouse.

Here are some of the images from that project:

Camera Settings & Gear I Used for This Shoot

For this project at the Costco warehouse, I kept things pretty simple and relied on two main lenses to get the shots I needed.

Camera: Sony A7 IV

Lenses: Samyang 85mm f/1.4 & Sony 24-70mm f/2.8

Shutter Speed: Varied between 1/125 and 1/500 depending on lighting and whether I was shooting handheld or braced for detail shots.

Aperture: I mostly shot between f/2.8 and f/5.6. With the 85mm, I opened up wider for shallow depth of field on tighter shots. With the 24-70mm, I stayed around f/4 to keep things sharp and balanced.

ISO: Indoors, lighting can be tricky, so I adjusted between ISO 250 and 1600 depending on the location in the warehouse and available light. No flash used.

White Balance: Set to auto, then corrected slightly in post where needed.

Mode: Manual for full control of exposure. Used single shot, not burst—this shoot was slower paced and more controlled.

If you’re photographing spaces like this, my tip is: take your time with composition, look for symmetry or leading lines, and watch your highlights in brighter spots—warehouse lighting can be uneven.

If you need professional photos for your business, whether it’s your space, your team, or your products, feel free to reach out. I’m always open to new projects.
